1Introduction

Veat is a campus food-delivery service for university students in Nigeria (currently Veritas University, Abuja). You order from campus vendors and our riders deliver to your hostel; you pay from an in-app wallet.

This service is operated by Veat Inc (“Veat”, “we”, “us”). This policy applies to the Veat app and website.

2Information we collect

  • Account info: your name, phone number, and email.
  • Location: your delivery address / location, used to fulfil deliveries to you.
  • Payment info: processed securely by Paystack. We do not store your card details.
  • Device info & push tokens: so we can send you order and delivery notifications.
  • Usage data: your orders, wallet transactions, and app interactions.

3How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • fulfil and deliver your orders;
  • process payments through Paystack;
  • send order and delivery notifications;
  • run Veat Rewards;
  • provide customer support; and
  • keep the app secure and make it better.

4Who we share it with

We share only what's needed to get your food to you:

  • Our delivery riders — your name and delivery location, so they can complete your order.
  • Paystack — to process payments.
  • Supabase — our secure database and backend provider.
  • Expo — to deliver push notifications.

We do not sell your data.

5Notifications

We send push notifications about your orders and deliveries, and occasionally about promotions. You can turn these off any time in the app's settings, or in your device's notification settings. Turning off promotional notifications won't stop essential updates about an order you've placed.

6Data retention & account deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service.

You can delete your account at any time. Deletion is a soft-delete: your account is deactivated immediately and enters a 30-day grace period, during which you can restore it by contacting support. After 30 days, your account and personal data are permanently deleted. See the Delete account page for full details.

Some records — for example transaction and tax records — may be retained for longer where the law requires it.

7Your rights under the NDPA

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA 2023), you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct data that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete your data;
  • object to certain uses of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at veatsupport@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before we act on a request.

8Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit and restricted access — only the people and systems that need your data to run Veat can reach it. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to keep your information safe.

9Children & students

Veat is intended for users 16+ and of legal age to use the service. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

10Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
